Shannon Woolf

Over 20 years experience, BACP accredited and UKRCP Independent Counsellor/Psychotherapist

There are times in life when things can feel heavy or uncertain — when you may feel lost, overwhelmed, or unsure of where you’re heading. You might want to talk things through, yet hesitate to burden family or friends. Perhaps you’ve noticed patterns repeating in your relationships and feel unsure how to change them, or you may be navigating a break-up, bereavement, or another kind of loss.

At moments like these, having the space to speak openly with someone outside of your everyday life can feel deeply supportive.

I offer a calm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can talk about whatever is on your mind, at your own pace. Working with an independent counsellor gives you the opportunity to pause, reflect, and make sense of your experiences, helping you reconnect with your own inner resources and discover what feels right for you.

My name is Shannon, and I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a registered UKRCP Independent Counsellor/Psychotherapist. My core training is in person-centred, transpersonal, and psychospiritual therapy. This means our work is shaped around you — your experiences, values, and inner wisdom — rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Where it feels appropriate, I work integratively, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches including hypnotherapy, CBT, NLP, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), guided visualisation, meditation, and art therapy. This allows our work together to remain flexible and responsive to what feels most supportive for you in the moment.

I have over twenty-three years’ experience working within the mental health sector, supporting both adults and young people through a wide range of life challenges. My background includes managing a therapy unit within a primary school, counselling students aged 16–70 in a further education setting, and working as an affiliate counsellor for several Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) providers. Alongside this, I run my own private practice.

Earlier in my career, I worked as a Montessori nursery teacher, which deepened my understanding of emotional development and strengthened my ability to support children, young people, adults, and families with sensitivity and care.

Alongside my counselling work, I am a Reiki Master and trained in past-life regression. I have a strong interest in the mind–body–spirit connection and the body’s natural capacity for healing. I also have additional training in shamanic psychotherapy and value working in a way that gently honours both traditional therapeutic approaches and more holistic, energetic perspectives — always guided by what feels appropriate and supportive for you.

I currently devote my time to private practice and accepting referrals from EAP providers.

I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation, giving you the opportunity to briefly share what you’re looking for and to see whether working together feels like a good fit.

Sessions are offered remotely via Zoom, WhatsApp, FaceTime, or telephone. Fee: £60 per session
