Other Therapies I can offer

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

CFT is a different approach to CBT in that its focus is to promote mental and emotional healing by encouraging people in treatment to be compassionate toward themselves and other people. Compassion; towards ourselves, towards others and accepting compassion from others are believed by many to be an essential aspect of well-being.

As we evolved as a species compassion has been and still is a key part of our survival and wellbeing. Unfortunately in this modern world we can become heavily burdened with our 'drive' towards perfection, of have lack of drive and motivation such as when we feel low in mood. Alternatively we can often feel a sense of 'threat' such as symptoms of anxiety and worry. CFT aims to create better balance by helping us cultivate compassion and the ability to 'soothe' our body and mind. This therapy is backed by many research papers and used by many Clinical psychologists and other psychotherapists.

Cognitive Processing therapy (CPT)
CPT is an approach developed for the treatment of PTSD.  The therapy is a form of cognitive Therapy which like CBT helps the client address negative beliefs related to the traumatic event. These negative perceptions about aspects of the trauma and activating parts of the memory are causing the memory to be unprocessed or 'stuck'. These 'stuck points' are targeted during the therapy and the client is supported to healthy processing of what happened so that the PTSD symptoms subside.

CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy informed approach to help people who have a long term physical health condition and a common mental health issue.

Over the years more and more statistics have shown how connected mental health is with physical health and for many suffering with physical health issues this can lead them to have low mood or anxiety problems. Both the physical health issue and mental health can exasabate each other causing further stress. For this reason many services and therapist are encouraged to train in how to tailor CBT and include ACT approaches to help This client group

Please note that I have not completed an ACT training course therefore would not promote myself as an ACT practitioner. However a recent intensive course I attended Included the use of ACT and its resources giving me the ability to use this effective therapy which is now being recognised as one of the frontline talking therapies to use in treating people with both physical and mental health issues.

ACT differs to CBT in that it combines a focus on helping accept the limitations physical health issues cause, while also understanding and moving towards our goals and reducing our behaviours that push us away from them. The therapy involves mindfulness techniques to encourage us to be in the present.
