Kat Unverricht

BACP Accredited Counsellor, based near Chorley (Wheelton) and offer remote therapy

I am a Counsellor but I have also been in therapy so I understand the nerves, apprehension and doubts you might be feeling. I want to reassure you that a warm welcome awaits you.

I qualified as a Counsellor in 2015 and I worked in the NHS and charity sector for several years. Steve the founder of SR Therapy Centre and I used to work together in the NHS.

I'm also a pet owner  and I have a deep understanding of the pain and sorrow losing your pet or companion animal can cause. The pictures on this page are of our family dog Sheba who died in 2018 and of my cat Charlie who died in 2024. Both are dearly missed. Grieving for your pet or companion animal can be a hidden grief because people don't tend to talk about or understand this particular loss which can leave you feeling isolated and alone. This is why I offer Pet Bereavement Therapy alongside my other Therapy services. I am a registered member of the Association of Pet Bereavement Counsellors.

Beginning therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re unsure what to expect or worried about opening up to someone new. These feelings are completely natural. When you’re struggling with low self-esteem, grief, or emotional pain, it can be hard to recognise what you need—let alone communicate those needs to others.

You may be wondering how talking could possibly help when life feels heavy or overwhelming. Yet many of us rarely pause to reflect on our inner world. Therapy offers a calm, supportive space away from the noise of everyday life, where you can explore your feelings, gain clarity, and reconnect with your own voice. Face to Face sessions in Wheelton- £75 Video/telephone sessions- £70 For details on a Podast I appeared on, see link below: Pet Loss & Grief: How to Cope After Saying Goodbye | Therapist Poetry Podcast Ep16
